Bushwalking in Western Australia

At around twice the size of Western Europe, Western Australia is huge! It offers the space to discover yourself and explore local culture, jaw-dropping outback landscapes, pristine white beaches and stunning red gorges.

A unique feature of the state is the extremely large number of endemic plants and the south-western corner is the most outstanding wildflower region of Australia. It's worth visiting just for the flowers.

Many of the trails, including the world-class Bibbulmun Track and the renowned Cape to Cape Track, are in this region which is the easiest to travel to from Perth.

North of Perth, the distances are huge – and the scenery spectacular as you walk through gorges, climb the world’s largest rock or discover aboriginal rock art. In the far north, there is some excellent walking in the tropics at the Bungle Bungle Range and also in the vast region known as The Kimberley.

The easiest way to access the far North is through organised tours which are popular with many walkers.

Please read the Trail Tips on this site before heading out on our trails and always let someone know where you're going. Happy Walking!
